The Massachusetts State Hockey Coaches Association in association with the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association present the first annual Garrett Reagan Massachusetts High School Hockey Summit. The Summit will take place on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the New England Sports Center. Sixty teams and over 1,200 players will participate in this one day event that will be a great kickoff to the 2008-2009 high school hockey season. In addition to playing a mini game, each player will participate in educational workshops and seminars coordinated by the Massachusetts State Hockey Coaches Association. Listed below are the scheduled events for the day. · SHOWCASE MINI GAME · POINTS OF EMPHASIS FROM HOCKEY OFFICIALS – BOBBY COLLINS · STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING – NORM MELTZER · CAPTAINS PANEL ON LEADERSHIP · GAME ADMINISTRATION SEMINAR – MARTHA COAKLEY DVD · CHEMICAL HEALTH EDUCATION - MIAA
Some of the supporters of this event include Nike Bauer Hockey , Boston Bruins, National Hockey League, Boston Globe, FASTHockey.com and NESN. During a mid-day break, all families will be invited into a stadium style presentation featuring guest speakers scheduled to be: Jerry York, Head Coach, Boston College; Jamie Rice, Head Coach, Babson College, and Katey King, Head Women's Coach, Boston College. The speaking engagements will be headlined by Peter Chiarelli, GM, Boston Bruins. Admission representatives from New England colleges and prep schools will have information available to both parents and players in a college fair exhibit area at the New England Sports Center.We look forward to seeing you on December 7th.
