i think coyle is completly done after losing to bishop stang, none of the d2 teams will make it. we'll see what publics make it this year maybe only hingham, who knows
  2.
I don't think BCH should be in the top five or top ten for that matter. What is their record? Not the same as it was last year. They have always made the Super 8. What a disappointment. THere is a big game for Needham on 2/11 against Weymouth. What does anyone think about that game?

should be a real good game but needham has to come out on top or they can kiss their super 8 bid goodbye. i think in a must win game for them to have a chance at super 8, they pull it out and revenge the lose to them earlier in the year. with that said it will be an uphill climb for them to win the super 8 and wont be such a bad thing if they dont make it . Div 1 championship isnt a bad consolation prize, which if this team plays well, isnt a far possibility.
  3.
I hope needham comes out and gets revenge for the loss, too. I am thinking that needham will have to score early and often. Weymouth is just an average team at best. What will the final score be, any input. I think needham 4 weymouth 2.

ok heres my super 8 selection prediction and i could be completely wrong by im gonna give it a try, so here it goes in no particular order

    Catholic Memorial
    Malden Catholic
    Hingham
    Springfield Cathedral
    Central Catholic
    Arlington Catholic
    BC High (because of politics)
    Xaverian

    Play in
    Burlington
    Needham
  4.
I think that Malden Catholic should be number 1. They have a great record. Central Catholic is definetly in the top 5. As I said earlier, BC High with their record, should not be in the top 10. Am I wrong, I don't think that they have beaten anyone in the CC. That being said, I agree with most of your picks. Good list.

no your right, BC High shouldnt be in the super 8 but i think the politics of it all will get them picked, they do have a tough schedule but u gotta beat some teams.

You boys got my interest peaked. I think records can be a little deceptive. SOS (strength of schedule) can make a really good team look undeserving with a 500 type record where a average team might have a .900 win% because of a weak (SOS). That’s why I pay attention to USHSHO.com, MassHSHockey.com and Jim Clark’s RPI rankings; I think that they, even though not perfect, take this (SOS) into account.

If I had to pick today, based on all these factors, here ‘s where I think the teams would fall:

    1. CM
    2. MC
    3. Hingham
    4. Central catholic
    5. Springfield Cathedral
    6. Burlington

    Play-in

    7. Xaverian
    8. Needham
    9. AC
    10. BC
  5.
That's a good list. I think that I would switch #1 and #2. MC then CM. They both have a pretty tough schedules. Are you putting MC 2nd because of the loss against, who was it, Newburyport. That loss was one they let get away. Did MC play their backup goalie. Their record was untarnished up until then.

ya they played their backup but i think hes referring to their weak games against st.marys, matignon, st bernards, autin prep, chelmsford and newburyport. next year they should do a better job scheduling stronger teams and there would be no doubts about them if they had their current record

1 and 2 are a toss up, but I am "stealing some mathematical driven input" from the sources I mentioned above. The secret to the post season is simply getting there. I don’t think that either MC or CM much care if they are considered 1,2 or 3 etc., as long as they are playing the Super 8 in March. Now if either one was 7,8 etc., then there would be reason for concern.

As far as the loss to Newburyport goes, I have seen too many times over the years that type of result when it’s against all odds, after all we are dealing with young men loaded (or not) with emotion, and emotion is a “BIG” factor in all sports period. In spite of all the “chatter” it was just a game that one team lost while playing poorly “without the physic” of the big game and another team playing in a “Stanley Cup 7th.Game” mentality. Good for Newburyport, you definitely still need the horses still to get it done, and a lesson learned by the young Lancers.

What does any one think now about the Super 8. CM loses to MSC. How many losses does CM have? One question, I thought that a team had to have at least a .500 record to make a tournament? I have a feeling that MC is going to take it all. Just some food for thought.

Right now CM is 7-5-4 with a 0.756 win% so they are a little over the bubble. Regardless of strength of schedule there is no way that the super 8 committee would ever pick a sub 500 team, CM or otherwise, it would be political suicide. A team can make the tournament (not the super 8) with a sub 500 record if they finish first or second in their respective league, providing the league has at least 5 teams in it. There is also the “Sullivan Rule” which Watertown (a Division 2 team) uses, that’s where a team that plays in a League where the majority of the league is a division above you. Water plays 18 games against Division 1 teams in their league and they only have to play 2 non-league games against Division 2 teams, win one and you’re in.
